To cloak or not to coak!

Dear Fellow Networker,

Today I want to touch on something that will at one stage have an impact on all your hard work to earn money on the internet and that is to “cloak or not to cloak”

Cloaking in basic terms comes down to using a method, whether it is software or any other way you can find to change the appearance of your affiliate links when you promote them. This can be for when you send out e-mails or do any other promotion. It is to shorten your link and to make it look more professional.

As I said it is a shortened URL that when you click on it redirects you to your affiliate link, which is of course where you start making money. When I started out I found numerous programs that you could buy that will do this for you the fast and easy way.

Most of the programs I belong to, would answer, when I approached them regarding cloaking, that it was a matter of personal choice. Clickbank as part of its user software also provides a method to cloak links by cutting and pasting as you want to.

I myself never used it unless it was provided by the management programs of the program I belonged to. Today however I read one of my peer’s blog and to my surprise found the following:

The following affects affiliates commissions and how you could in fact be losing a chunk of your income without realizing it…

This might shock and I expect some people not to believe this at all...
Most people know that there are good reasons to protect affiliate links against loss and stolen commissions, however what they do not know is that these tools can actually have the opposite effect to what was intended. They can actually lose you commissions – in some cases over half your commissions – without you even knowing it.
